Visibility Is a Team Sport: Why You Can't Build Your Network Alone

The Myth of the Solo Climb

There's a story we tell ourselves about success — that it's a solo climb, that asking for connection is somehow a sign you can't do it on your own. I believed that story for a long time too, and it kept me small far longer than it should have. The truth is almost the opposite: nearly everything that's grown my business came through a relationship, not a solo effort.
Why Networking Feels Uncomfortable (And Why That's Not a Reason to Skip It)

Most women I talk to don't avoid networking because they're bad at it. They avoid it because it feels transactional, forced, or fake — like everyone's secretly keeping score of who's “useful” to know. That discomfort is real. It's also solvable, and it starts with changing what you're actually there to do.

The Two-Conversation Rule

Here's a rule I've used for years that changes everything: the first conversation with anyone new has zero agenda. None. You're not there to pitch, sell, or recruit — you're there to genuinely learn about the person in front of you. The second conversation is where natural sharing happens, because trust has already been built. Skip straight to the pitch in conversation one, and you've told the other person exactly what they are to you: a transaction, not a person.

Three Ways to Make Any Networking Room Actually Work

• Walk in with one clear intention. A vague “I'm here to meet people” gets vague results. “I'm looking to connect with women in wellness or coaching” gets you introductions.
• Give before you ask. Come ready to offer a resource, an introduction, or a genuine compliment before you ask for anything. Give first, always.
• Follow up like you mean it. A follow-up message within 48 hours turns a nice conversation into an actual relationship. Most people never send it — which is exactly why it stands out when you do.

This Is Exactly Why I'm Hosting the Visibility Lounge

Tomorrow, Thursday, September 17th at 4pm, I'm hosting a free online networking hour built entirely around this philosophy — no pitch, no pressure, just women showing up with a clear intention and an open hand. If you've been isolated in your own business, building alone in a way that's starting to feel heavier than it should, this is your sign to walk into a room.

Visibility Lounge — Free Online Networking, Tomorrow @ 4pm

One hour. No pitch. Just real connection with women who get it.
